The course examines the theories and practices of ongoing, dynamic assessment strategies used with children and youth, particularly those identified with disabilities. Strong emphasis will be placed on assessment and the involvement of the families in this process and respect for cultural and familial variations.


The course introduces you to the learning and teaching process of special students. The course explores strategies to encourage positive classroom behavior and coordinating classroom learning environment.


The course provides you an introduction to teaching strategies and curriculum adaptations to include children who have disabilities in 0-5 early childhood educational settings. An overview of current early childhood intervention includes issues such as risk determinants, disability characteristics, medical issues and assistive technology.


The course will provide you with descriptions and applications of methods and strategies for teaching students with mild and moderate disabilities in need of an adapted curriculum.
